Hear Robyn's Slick New Song 'Honey' From 'Girls' Final Season

Swedish pop singer Robyn was so inspired by the “emotionally complex situations” of HBO’s Girls that she contributed a new song, “Honey,” to the show’s current sixth and final season. The singer teased the track Monday on her Soundcloud

“Honey” is trademark Robyn, built on slick vocal hooks and pulsating synthesizers. The Soundcloud clip is periodically overlaid with dialogue from the show, like Adam’s irritated rant about “everyone acting like unrefined sugar isn’t sugar.”

The “Dancing on My Own” singer explained on Instagram that Girls creator-star Lena Dunham selected “Honey” from a collection of in-progress Robyn tracks. “It wasn’t ready to be released, but I finished this version for her and Girls,” Robyn wrote. “Thank you @lenadunham for making this tv-show that flips my brain like a burger like 15 times every episode,” she added.

In her own Instagram post, Dunham noted that “Honey” will be featured on Robyn’s upcoming LP. “We knew the last season needed some Robyn,” she added. “After all, Hannah would not be Hannah without a lot of dancing on her own.”

Robyn’s most recent solo album is 2010’s Body Talk. She released the Trust Me EP with Mr. Tophat last year.
