Jennifer Garner is not in talks to star in a Melania Trump biopic, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. We’ve learned the actress isn’t attached to such a project.
“Coming Soon! Melania The Movie” reads a headline in the latest issue of Life & Style. The accompanying article says the first lady is getting her own biopic that will chronicle her “rags-to-riches life story.” A supposed source tells the outlet, “There’s been a lot of interest in a movie or miniseries about Melania, and the role could be a game-changer for whomever lands the coveted part.”
The magazine says the “secret project” will focus on how a young Melania – who grew up on a housing block in Slovenia – pursued a modeling career, met future husband Donald Trump and eventually became the first lady of the United States. “It’s one of the juiciest characters being cast right now,” says the alleged insider, adding that Garner is one of the front-runners for the role.
Gossip Cop reached out to a source close to Garner, who wasn’t able to speak on the record, but tells us there’s no truth to the outlet’s report. We’re told the actress hasn’t been approached about portraying the first lady in a film. It’s also worth noting, the unreliable tabloid doesn’t bother to mention which production company or studio is behind the supposed project. It’s also a major red flag that the outlet doesn’t know whether the “biopic” will be a movie or a miniseries.
Additionally, this wouldn’t be the first time Life & Style has created a fake biopic about a celebrity. Gossip Cop previously called out the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio would play Bruce Springsteen in a movie about the musician’s life. That hasn’t happened.
Gossip Cop also busted the publication for falsely claiming Justin Bieber would play George Michael in a biopic about the Wham! singer. That movie was never in development either.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop corrected the outlet in May for making up a story about Garner marrying boyfriend John Miller at her home in Los Angeles. The actress isn’t walking down the aisle with the CaliGroup CEO. In 2017, the same tabloid wrongly contended that Garner was getting back together with Ben Affleck.
Suffice to say, Life & Style has a very poor track record when it comes to reporting about celebrity biopics and Garner’s personal life. The magazine consistently peddles fiction about both topics, and this latest article is no different.
