Ice Cube & MTV to Revive ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’

Prepare to witness Cardi B go toe-to-toe with Nicki Minaj, Drake get the hands from Pusha-T, or Kim Kardashian versus Taylor Swift all in claymation madness. MTV Studios is reviving its classic fighting series Celebrity Deathmatch, the controversial claymation show that transformed the biggest music beefs and celebrity feuds into a violent, satirical battle to the death.

This time around, MTV Studios is partnering with rapper Ice Cube to star and executive produce the show with his production company Cube Vision. “Happy to once again be working with Viacom and MTV on a fan favorite like Celebrity Deathmatch and to continue our success together,” Ice Cube said in a statement.

The original series premiered on May 14, 1998, and ultimately ran for six season and nearly one hundred episodes through 2007. The show tried to make a comeback in 2015, but the pilot was not picked up to series.

As of now, a premiere date is unclear while the show reportedly is being shopped around for an exclusive streaming or premium broadcast partner for 2019. With the return of Celebrity Deathmatch, what artists, celebrities, and politicians would you like to see enter the claymation ring of death?
